Abstract::      The Korteweg deVries (KdV) equation is a mathematical model for waves on shallow water. Inverse scattering transform (IST) for KdV equation with zero boundary conditions and step-like boundary conditions were studied in 1967 and 1985, respectively. In this talk, I will show my results on long-time asymptotic, interaction and position shift for KdV equation with step-like boundary conditions. Moreover, spectral theory of Zakharov-Shabat scattering problem associated to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with elliptic potentials will be discussed.
